Evaporative Cooler Solenoid Valves
Water inlet solenoid valves for Breezair, Braemar, Coolair, Bonaire, Celair, Brivis and CoolBreeze evaporative coolers, in 24VAC, 12VDC and 240V versions, with or without bleed.
The solenoid opens to let water into the cooler and closes when the tray is full or the cooler is off. A faulty solenoid can leave the tray empty (warm air, dry pads) or let water run constantly.
Common questions
Which solenoid do I need?
Check the voltage on your old valve (24VAC, 12VDC or 240V), the thread size and whether it has a bleed outlet. These must match. The product pages list the part numbers each valve replaces.
What does “bleed” mean?
A bleed solenoid has a small extra outlet that lets a little water run off continuously to keep salt levels down. Coolers with a dump or drain valve often use a no-bleed solenoid.
Choosing the right solenoid valve
Four things must match your old valve: voltage (24VAC, 12VDC or 240V – printed on the coil), bleed or no bleed, thread size (usually 1/2" / 15mm) and the electrical connection.
A solenoid that won’t open leaves the tray empty and the pads dry. One stuck open keeps water running after the cooler is off. Check the supply tap and the inlet filter screen before replacing it. Full details are in our solenoid valve guide and overflow troubleshooting guide.
