Capacitor or motor?
If the fan hums but won’t start, or runs slowly, try the run capacitor first. It’s the cheaper part and the most common failure. If the shaft is stiff, the motor smells burnt or it trips the power, the motor needs replacing.
- Capacitors: match the uF value and use an equal or higher voltage rating.
- Motors: match the wattage, speed type, shaft size, mounting and connector. The number on the motor label may differ from the cooler part number, and our product pages list both.
- Breezair Icon models use direct-drive motors with an inverter drive, not a capacitor.
