Evaporative Cooler Motors & Capacitors

Fan motors and motor run capacitors for Breezair (including Icon direct-drive motors), Braemar, Coolair, Bonaire, Celair, Brivis and CoolBreeze evaporative coolers.

A fan that hums but won’t start, starts only when spun by hand or runs slowly usually points to a failed capacitor. A motor that is seized, noisy, burnt-smelling or tripping power usually needs replacing.

Common questions

Should I replace the capacitor or the motor?

Try the capacitor first if the motor hums and turns freely by hand. It is the cheaper part and the most common failure. If the shaft is stiff or the windings are burnt, replace the motor.

How do I find the right motor?

Use the part number on the motor label (for example 0950xx for Breezair Icon motors) or your cooler model and wattage. Check the shaft size, mounting and connector, which are listed on each product page.

Who should fit it?

Motors and capacitors are mains-voltage parts and should be fitted by a licensed electrician or a qualified cooler technician.
